(h) That it will be seen from the tables above that an Indian policeman gets the lowest pension compared with otar Government servants. The concession, if it can be called a concession, that a policeman can retire from the service 10 years earlier than the other Government servants is due to the fact that he is required to perform hard and dangerous duties in all sort of weather throughout the year, and it is admitted that a policeman especially an Asiatic loses his impotance after attaining the age of 45.

(i) That the petitioners beg to point out that Indians, who are employed in the prison Department, and who can also retire at the age of 45, if retired on abolition of office, have abolition factor added to their pensions merely on the ground that they are governed by the Civil pension Regulations.

(j) That the petitioners beg to cite a case of one Indian Policeman B 232 Sarwan Singh, who was called from India as a Crown witness in a case in Hong Kong in 1946 or early 1947, and who also refused to do duty after the completion of the case, on the ground_that he was over 45 years of age, had his pension calcu- Iated on the new scale of salary prevailing at that time.

We the humble petitioners pray to your Honour that gur appeal will receive your sympathetic consider- ation and favourable decision in this matter.

We are, your lord's

Most obedient servants,

Chambasingh U.S. B 563

Secretary on behalf of the Hong Kong Police Association. Ludhiana.
